Program Descriptions

Kizuna Bodywork Basic Certification

This basic practitioner training program is a set of classes designed to prepare you to practice oil massage professionally. You will develop the ability to touch in a flowing, nurturing, and relaxing way while helping relieve clients' pain and tension. You will practice connecting more deeply with nature and with your own compassion, creativity, body, and intuition, and you will use these connections to enhance your massage work. Topics of study will include anatomy and physiology, practitioner ethics, and self-care.

There are no prerequisites for this program. This is a 150 hour program made up of 6 parts, each part being a 25 hour class. The classes are Kizuna Bodywork Basic Classes 1 through 6. We recommend you take the classes in numerical order. Please see the calendar and descriptions of classes for more information.

At the conclusion of the program you will give an evaluation massage to your teacher. When you complete all 6 parts of the program, pass your evaluation, and perform and document 30 practice massages you may purchase a certificate showing you are qualified to professionally practice Kizuna Bodywork. The fee for the certificate is 10,000 yen. You are not required to purchase a certificate. This program is based on the same requirements for basic massage practitioner certification in California where Kizuna Bodywork was created.

Kizuna Bodywork Advanced Certification

This advanced practitioner training program offers you the opportunity to achieve a high level of expertise and professional credentials. You will acquire a much-expanded skill set that includes sophisticated patterns of flowing strokes, extensive training in deep tissue massage, the ability to use your forearms and elbows confidently and effectively, and other advanced techniques for helping relieve your clients' tension and pain. You will learn to enhance your massage through further exploration and application of core Kizuna Bodywork themes like touching with compassion, connecting with nature, and gaining detailed knowledge of human anatomy.

This program also exposes you to a broad range of personal growth and wellness fields including movement arts, awareness practices, and other forms of bodywork. This eclectic experience is designed to enrich your work by cultivating your ability to connect with others and with all aspects of the self, including the physical, creative, emotional, and intuitive.

Completion of the Kizuna Bodywork Basic Certification Program is a prerequisite for enrollment in this program. Upon enrollment in this program you pay a fee of 30,000 yen to an advisor from the Kizuna Bodywork teaching staff who provides you with mentoring services. You collaborate with your advisor to design a personalized curriculum according to your needs and interests.

This is a 350 hour program, after completion of which you will have a total of at least 500 hours of training (including 150 hours carried over from the Kizuna Bodywork Basic Certification Program). Every student's curriculum includes at least 75 hours of Advanced Kizuna Bodywork classes, 75 hours of Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue classes, and 165 hours of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and kinesiology study in addition to elective classes. Classes which satisfy this program's requirements include Kizuna Bodywork Advanced Classes 1 through 3 and Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue Classes 1 through 3. At the conclusion of the program you will give an evaluation massage to your advisor. When you complete the program and pass your evaluation you may purchase a certificate showing you are an advanced professional practitioner of Kizuna Bodywork. Kizuna Bodywork Teacher Certification

This teacher training program is designed to help you develop all the skills needed to design and lead high-quality classes and start a career as a massage teacher.

Completion of the Kizuna Bodywork Advanced Certification Program, extensive professional experience, and mastery of Kizuna Bodywork techniques and principles are prerequisites for this program. You receive ongoing one-on-one mentoring from a Kizuna Bodywork leader who works with you to design an individualized curriculum according to your needs and interests. You have the opportunity to work alongside experienced instructors in numerous classes and learn to teach by observing, assisting, practicing teaching in a real classroom setting, and receiving feedback. Each student's curriculum additionally includes classes in teaching methods and principles, psychology, ethics and management, personal growth and wellness practices, and anatomy and physiology.

The program is composed of several segments, the completion of each of which gives you authorization to teach a specific range of Kizuna Bodywork classes when and where you wish. Some graduates of this program will be invited to join the teaching staff of Kizuna Bodywork.
