An Invitation to Healing and Connection

Kizuna Bodywork is a graceful form of oil massage that is very effective in helping relieve pain and tension. It is also a way to connect with others, with nature, and with your own heart and creativity. Kizuna Bodywork is much easier on the therapist's body than most other forms of massage. If you are considering studying massage please see the descriptions of our classes and certification programs and read more about Kizuna Bodywork. If you are looking for a massage therapist please see our practitioner directory.

brief summary: In this class you'll learn a complete full-body massage routine for babies which has been proven safe, has been shown to have a wide range of benefits, and is endorsed by the International Association of Infant Massage. You will also study the factors which make baby massage very different from adult massage including babies' behavior states and nonverbal communication, the caregiver-child bonding process, and the development, physiology, and anatomy of infants. After the training is complete you will have the option to spend the afternoon participating in an outreach program in which we visit a Tokyo-area orphanage and care for babies whose need for nurturing touch is particularly urgent and likely to be inadequately met.

Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue Class 1

duration: 4 days
location: Akigawa, Japan (near Tokyo)
teacher: Les May

See full description for more details.
Use the enrollment form to reserve your place in the class.

brief summary: This is the first in a series of three Kizuna Bodywork Deep Tissue classes in which you will study techniques for safely and effectively providing your clients with deep pressure. The Kizuna Bodywork system includes no techniques requiring use of the hands, fingers, or thumbs to provide strong pressure. Instead it relies exclusively on the arms and elbows so you can avoid causing yourself the fatigue, pain, and injury most massage therapists experience. You will begin working deeply on nearly the entire length of the body right from this first class in the series. You will also practice combining deeper and lighter strokes in a flowing manner.
